We are in the process of reviewing the current ‘absence from work policy’ and our sick pay scheme. As such we wish to re-iterate what the current policy entails and provide clear guidance on how ‘sick pay’ and ‘recording of absences’ should be undertaken. Please note the below applies to all business units within the Tingdene Group.
SICK PAY
The company does not operate an Occupational Sick Pay Scheme, therefore payment of normal salary during sickness is NOT entitled. However Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is offered from day 4 onwards for sickness or injury (further details can be found on the company’s current absent from work policy).
The company reserves the right to alter and make a discretionary payment to individuals who remain on long term sick. Any discretionary payment made does not alter the company's main policy.
COVID RELATED SICKNESS & SICK PAY
Anyone who has tested positive for Covid will remain entitled to receive full pay for the first 3 days and SSP from day 4 onwards (a positive lateral flow test will need to be presented to be entitled to full pay).
Please refer to the Company’s ‘Control of Infectious Disease Policy’ which provides the protocols that remain in place surrounding Covid-19.
RECORDING OF ABSENCE
In the event that a team member is absent from work, the below process must be followed:
It is the responsibility of the Line Manager to record the sickness absence onto the HR hub on the day of being notified.
If the employee has not provided the reason for absence or a likely return date, it is the responsibility of the Line Manager to contact the employee on the first day of absence to request the required details and thereafter to make regular contact, if contact has not been made by the employee.
It is the responsibility of the Line Manager to keep the sickness records up to date on the HR hub.
As per the current policy, for short term absence (during the first 7 days self- certification period) it is the employees’ responsibility to provide an update each day by contacting their Line Manager.
Any sickness beyond 7 days will require a Fit Note. It is thereafter the Line Managers responsibility to keep regular contact with their team member during the period of absence, having regular welfare check-ins to help and support an efficient and effective return-to-work.
Should you have any queries please speak to your Line Manager or Safa Iram, our Group HR Manager.
